Strategies to Keep Your Carpet Flooring Looking Like New

These are our top strategies for keeping your beautiful carpet flooring looking just like the day you bought it.

In the right space, carpet flooring is going to be the best option. Not only does it offer comfort and a soft feel beneath your feet, but there are just so many styles out there that can fit your specific aesthetic. However, like any kind of flooring, there are some maintenance considerations to keep in mind in order to help keep your carpets looking pristine. Carpets can be expensive to replace, so following these tips from the get-go helps you save money long term also. These are our top strategies for keeping your beautiful carpet flooring looking just like the day you bought it.

Frequent Vacuuming

Just because a carpet looks clean at a glance doesn’t mean it actually is. Grime can often work its way down into the fibers of your beautiful carpet flooring without you even realizing it. Not only might this make you worry from a cleanliness standpoint, but it’s also a matter of durability. You can extend the life of your flooring by vacuuming two or three times per week. Make sure you’re using a quality vacuum that has also been maintained, as something as simple as a broken or clogged vacuum may mislead you into thinking you’re cleaning more than you actually are.

Sunlight Protection

Laying down on a carpet that has been warmed up by the sun can be a pleasant experience but believe it or not, sunlight can cause problems for your carpet flooring as well. Too much sun exposure fades carpets. You can install blinds or curtains to help keep the sun at bay during the brightest hours of the day. This depends on where you live. Typically, you’re going to want to keep your windows covered up between the hours of 10 AM to 2 PM every day. This is such a simple way to increase the longevity of your carpets.

Use Walk-Off Mats

Placing walk-off mats outside of the entrances to your home or business can help keep carpets feeling pristine. When you or your guests enter the building, they can wipe down their shoes, preventing dirt from getting onto your precious carpets. This is a good tip for any kind of flooring and can be a cheap way of protecting your floors.
